- The first thing that pops into most people’s head when they think of camping trip is having a good time around a fire watching the sun fade away into the darkness. That is why the first item of 10 essential items is the All-Weather Emergency 2-IN-1 Magnesium Fire Starter. Of course a lighter will do just fine but it is wise to have one of these around as a backup or in case of an emergency.
- Another item that you absolutely should not leave without is your Survival Kit. Even if you are not planning a long trip, you never know what will unfold. It is always better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
- Next up is your tent, the Coleman Evanston Tent is great choice to keep you sheltered during your trip. It is a roomy, 4 person tent with a convenient screen porch canopy.
- You will also want a sleeping bag to stay warm throughout the nights. Teton Sleeping Bags are excellent and come in a variety of sizes and thicknesses allowing you to get the one best for the specific camping that you’ll be doing.
- To elevate yourself up off the hard ground and get a good night sleep you will want either a cot or an air mattress at the least. Our sleeping options article can help you determine which option will work for you: “Cot, Air Pad, or Both?“
- Water is a key part of survival so if you’re planning on being out for multiple days, a LifeStraw Personal Water Filter might come in handy. You should always try to pack enough water to get you through your stay. But, in a pinch, the LifeStraw will allow you to drink from even the dirtiest of water sources thanks its filtration system.
- It is important to keep any food that you bring fresh and away from critters. The YETI Tundra Cooler is at the top of the line as far as coolers go. They can hold ice for up to an entire week and are even bear proof. There are plenty of sizes available making it easy to find one large enough to fulfill your needs.
- In order to eat the food you brought with you, you’re going to need a way to prepare it. The Arcadia Outdoors 11-piece cookset has everything you need to cook your food, enjoy a nice warm meal, and even clean up afterwards.
- There may be times when starting a fire is simply out of the question. If you have an Etekcity Ultralight Portable Stove you will still be able to eat under these circumstances. You can use it basically anywhere to cook your food, they’re especially great for hiking.
