Waking up to a hot cup of joe on the riverside is one of my favorite ways to start my day. For many people, myself included, coffee is non negotiable come morning time. If you know that you are going to want coffee while you are camping then you better come prepared or you will be kicking yourself on those early groggy mornings.
There are a couple different options to choose from for your coffee maker but regardless of which one you decide on, you are going to need a good kettle as well.
Outdoor Kettle
Docooler makes an exceptional outdoor kettle that is perfect for making coffee. It’s lightweight and durable, exactly what you need for camping or backpacking. The kettle is built with anodised aluminum, meaning it is scratch and corrosion resistant. It can hold up to 1.1 liters and weighs only about 6 ounces. While this kettle may appear small, it is able to hold enough water for at least three or four people to have coffee.
Camp Coffee Maker Options
As far as the actual coffee maker, there are two styles that are both excellent ways to get the job done. The french press made by KONA is a solid choice. Not only can it make coffee, it makes tea & espresso as well. A french press is the purest way to brew your coffee, it has a built in filter that pushes all the grounds to the bottom without sacrificing any of the flavor. The outer layer way designed to protect it from chips & cracks so it is perfect for camping trips. It is easy to clean and afterwards you don’t need to throw anything away.
Another option is the Melitta coffee maker. It works very similar to your coffee maker back home, the only difference is that you are the one adding boiling water instead of the machine. Use the glass carafe or brew your coffee right into your mug. The only downside to this option is that you will need to use filters.
Any of these options will help you wake up and get ready for another day of adventure.
