Capturing the memories that you make is an important part of spending time out in nature. Enjoy video of your friends going on a hike or the breathtaking view that you stumbled across along the way.
If you want to be able to take amazing pictures while you’re camping, but don’t want the risk breaking your phone or have to lug heavy camera gear around, check out the new GoPro Hero5. It is the perfect outdoor camera; you can take it with you on all of your adventures.
New & Improved
GoPro’s latest edition of their line of portable cameras, the Hero5 is their best one yet! It has some great new features that help you spend less time worrying about getting the picture and more time enjoying your activities.
One of the biggest updates that they made is the fact that you no longer need the outer case, that’s right the Hero5 is waterproof up to 10m. The Waterproof case from the previous models made the sound a little hard to hear at times.
Along with doing away with the case it now has 3 strategically placed microphones to bring you the best sound GoPro has to offer. With the new Hero5 you now also get voice control as well. This allows you to start or stop filming, take burst photos while recording, and so much more. It also has screen control which lets you move between features and settings for convenient adjustments. These new control features make your GoPro easy to set up based on your surroundings and then becomes virtually hands free if you want it to be.
Protect Your Investment
They do have protective cases so you don’t have to worry about it getting destroyed on impact (it happens to the best of us). My little brother was cliff diving last month with his brand new Hero5 and lost it in the process, luckily he had a case on. The next day we hauled the scuba gear up to waterfall and found it after a couple of passes threw the debris. He checked it as soon as he got to the surface. It still had some battery left (and a pretty cool video) with no problems.
Check out cases and other accessories in our article “GoPro Accessories”. Even with the case it doesn’t hurt to have extra peace of mind. You can purchase a 3 or 4 year warranty plan covering all accident protection.
Hero5 Specifications
It may only be a quarter pound and 1.26 x 2.44 x 1.75 inches, but this camera is packed with the latest technology. Meaning it is going to set you back about $400 for the camera alone. For how awesome these are I would have to say that is definitely a fair price. GoPro also has video software as well making the whole process extremely user friendly.
It is a good idea to tie your Hero5 with a secure line if possible. The adhesive pads are usually solid but I have had some friends have issues with older versions falling off.
