Super Cedar Firestarters

Being able to start a fire is undoubtedly one of the most important skills that all campers should be fairly confident with.

A fire will give you the extra warmth that you need.  It will also let you roast your marshmallows for s’mores. It can be difficult for even the most experienced campers to start their fire in some of the more harsh conditions such as rain or heavy winds. There are plenty of techniques that you can use but having some kind of firestarter really is the most efficient way to go. Read More

Camping Shower

If you are going on a day hike or weekend camping trip a shower may not be your highest priority.  However, they are quite a luxury to have for those longer camping trips. Most of my buddies that I camp with on extended trips are all fine with bathing in the river, but that can be rather cold at times. Having a camping shower provides you with warm water to freshen up after a long day in nature, which can prove to be much needed. Read More

Weather Protection

It is important to be aware of the elements whenever you make plans for any sort of camping trip. By educating yourself with the potential dangers, you can always be prepared.

Pet Supplies for Camping and Hiking

It may take a bit of training at first but taking your dog with you on camping trips is actually a lot easier than it sounds, as long as you are prepared with the right pet supplies.

The two main things that will come in handy are a saddle pack and collapsible food and water bowls. With these alone my dog is ready for almost any adventure. Read More

Eagles Nest Outfitters Hammock

A hammock is great for camping. You sleep right under the stars without worrying about the terrain beneath you.

Eagles Nest Outfitters (ENO) makes the best lightweight hammock that I have found.

My cousin recently purchased an Eagles Nest Outfitters Hammock and, despite it being his first time hanging a hammock, it went up flawlessly. They are light enough to keep anywhere from your hiking bag to your pocket without any issues for those perfectly clear nights. I use my hammock every weekend, just park my car on the beach and hang it from my roof rack to a palm tree. They really allow you to relax wherever you are. Read More

UE Boom Speaker

The sounds of nature can be undoubtedly beautiful, but every once in awhile it’s nice to break it up and crank some tunes. For this, you will need a great speaker.

The UE Boom speaker is hands down my favorite choice when it comes to portable speakers.  Whenever our camping kitchen is set up there is at least one UE hanging from the canopy.  Whoever still has some battery left on their phone usually decides the music.  Or the chef for the night. I love returning to the camp from a day on the river, hearing the music in the distance then the laughter and conversations of my group as I get closer. It’s like a home away from home and having a portable speaker can really keep a positive atmosphere alive during a long trip. Read More
