If you are camping near a body of water, perhaps a lake or a calm river, you might enjoy getting out on the water and Stand-up paddle (SUP) boarding. SUP boarding is a fun way to get some exercise in while you’re camping.  And, you never know the beauties you may see along the way.

Details of the Vilano Navigator SUP Board

I use my inflatable 10 foot Vilano Navigator all over.  I paddle out to small islands in the middle of the lake to jump off the cliffs or navigating upstream a to get some exploring in. My dog even comes out SUP-ing with me.  There is plenty of room for the both of us and the material is durable so I don’t worry about his nails. It’s made of a very durable high grade PVC.  Plus, it includes a one year warranty that covers workmanship and material.

The reason I went with an inflatable SUP board, opposed to a solid board, is because of how much room solid boards take up while storing them. When rolled up, the Vilano Navigator SUP Board is only one foot in diameter by 36 inches. The board, fully inflated, is 10 feet long, 31 inches wide, 6 inches thick and just over 25 pounds.

Vilano actually put together a very convenient package. In it came the board, pump, paddle, removable fin, pressure gauge and of course the backpack to carry it all in. The paddle that came with the board wasn’t the best so I replaced it with a 3-piece, adjustable, alloy SUP paddle which allows quick change to the length.

Tips

When learning to paddle board, start out sitting or on your knees until you get a feel for it.
To get an even longer life out of your Vilano Navigator SUP Board, wash it when you get home.  Just spray it off with a hose or dump it in a tub of water.  Mostly,  you are just trying to give it a good rinse.
