Your cooler is an important part of your gear, if you plan on bringing food that is. Unless I’m backpacking, I always bring my YETI Tundra cooler camping.
One of my favorite trips that I do is an annual rafting trip that we go on where everyone in the crew makes the maximum effort to make an appearance, last year over 30 people showed up. There are tents spread all around, rafts lining the river, and a full kitchen area. I was once able to walk around the kitchen are and easily identify who’s cooler is whose by the various colors and models, but nowadays it is much more organized and almost like flipping through the YETI catalog. I have noticed that over the past couple of years some of my rafting buddies have been replacing their older, worn out gear and upgrading to the best they can get their hands on (mostly trying to outdo each other).
About the YETI Tundra cooler
Make sure that when you pick out your cooler you get something that fills all of your needs. I went with the YETI Tundra 75 for myself. I also put a divider and a basket in it to help me stay organized on the longer trips. The reason I ultimately went with the YETI is it can keep ice for about a week, which can be a real game changer when you’re out in the heat. This is because of the 2 inches of insulation and YETI’s cold-keeping gasket. The cooler is a bit on the heavy side due to its insulation, 37.5 pounds, but the nylon straps and textured hand grips make carrying it manageable. If you are worried about it getting ruined frankly you’re wasting your time, these coolers are literally bear-proof and backed by a 5 year warranty that applies to defects in material and workmanship.
Clean up is easy thanks to the drain plugs, I always wash my cooler out after I use it with warm soapy water then rinse it with a garden hose.
For me the 75 is the perfect size. But YETI makes coolers in all sizes so there is definitely one that will be useful for you.

The YETI is a bit pricey. But, when comes to practicality, it is worth every penny. Plus there is no rule that says it has to be exclusively for camping. One of my cousins bought a seat cushion, rod holster, and a bait tray for his YETI. He uses it as his chair when he goes out fishing in his pond.
With all of the accessories that are available you can really get the full use of your YETI Tundra cooler.
